The new game by Dontnod, Tell Me Why, promotes transgender equality

Xbox Games Studios today announced on X019 a brand new IP from the French developer Dontnod, creator of Life is Strange. Tell Me Why focuses on the close bond between two twins: Tyler and Alyson Ronan. A “lifelike story” determined by the player’s choice. Tell Me Why will entrust players with the emotionally challenging childhood of their protagonists as they grapple with their past and grow up in Alaska.

“The core mechanics of the game is the special bond between Tyler and Alyson and is also an issue heavily anchored in the Dontnod storytelling approach,” says Game Director Florent Guillaume. “Throughout history, players will explore the different memories of identical twins on important events and choose which memory they want to believe. Ultimately, player decisions determine the strength of twins’ commitment – and the future course of their lives. “

Aside from the already inventive narrative, Tell Me Why is a transgender man who is one of the twins for inclusiveness.

“Microsoft and Dontnod have addressed Tyler with a true commitment to authenticity,” said Nick Adams, Director of Transgender Representation, GLAAD. “Tyler is a fully realized, lovable character whose story is not reduced to simplified trans-tropics. Creating a playable lead-trans character – and the care to get it right – raises the bar for LGBTQ’s future involvement in the game. “

The entire album “Tell Me Why” will be released in the summer of 2020, although it is an episodic adventure that is divided into three parts. The game is free for Xbox Game Pass players and can be purchased on Xbox One, Windows PC and Steam.
