Verizon Sets $10 Monthly Fee for Apple’s New iPhone Handoff Feature

Verizon has announced support for Apple’s new iPhone Handoff feature. The announcement arrived as the carrier opened pre-orders for the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable smartphone, on October 16, 2026. The service enables users to share a single cellular number across two separate iPhones.

While carriers are moving to support the eSIM-linking technology, AT&T has reportedly stated it has no immediate plans to support the feature.

iPhone Handoff is a core component of the newly released iOS 27 and represents a significant shift from the traditional app-based Handoff system. The feature requires hardware ranging from the iPhone 11 to the latest models.

The $10 surcharge positions as the most expensive carrier for the Handoff service.

The feature is largely targeted at early adopters of the iPhone Duo who may wish to switch seamlessly between a standard iPhone and the new foldable hardware without swapping physical SIM cards or managing multiple lines. Verizon’s launch enables a single phone number to be shared across two separate iPhones.
