The Belarusian company “Academ Pharm” working on producing vaccines

The director of the Belarusian company “Academ Pharm”, Yuri Mikitsky, stated that the company is collaborating with partners to produce vaccines, including an anti-lung cancer vaccine, currently in the process of being registered in Belarus.

During an interview with STV on Sunday, Mikitsky mentioned, “We are working with a number of foreign partners jointly on a contractual basis to develop vaccines. For example, there is an anti-lung cancer vaccine. We are currently working on registering it in the republic.”

He went on to explain that the company is currently unable to produce vaccines on its own due to technical limitations.

Collaboration with Cuban partners

The company director also noted, “We held successful negotiations with Cuban partners,” and it was agreed to manufacture a group of products in Belarus.

Impact of Western Sanctions

In response to a question about the impact of Western sanctions on the company’s work, Mikitsky said, “The imposed restrictions changed the traditional methods of supplying raw materials, making payments, and brought about changes in the process of approving certificates and tests.”

He added that the sanctions do not present a significant barrier, stating, “It just requires making some changes to the course of things. If we previously had one transport company, now we have three companies, and we choose which one is the fastest and which is the most suitable.”
